The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology serves as the vital bridge connecting basic medical sciences with clinical dentistry. In BDS curriculum, this department lays the essential foundation for students to understand normal oral structures before moving on to identify, diagnose, and manage anomalies and diseases of the head and neck region.
The department manages core subjects spread across the first and third years of the undergraduate curriculum: during the first Year BDS, students are taught Dental
Anatomy, Embryology, and Oral Histology which focuses on the development, morphology, physiology, and microscopic structure of teeth and surrounding oral tissues. Students learn tooth carving on wax blocks to master tooth morphology. In third year BDS, students are taught subject of Oral Pathology & Microbiology that introduces students to various diseases affecting the oral cavity. The curriculum
covers the etiopathogenesis, clinical features, radiographic signs, and microscopic
appearances of various oral and systemic diseases.
Our dental college is having a well-illuminated oral pathology laboratory outfitted with a large fleet of monocular/binocular microscopes where students study histopathological tissue slides and ground sections of teeth. Department also is well equipped with dental chairs to diagnose any patients
